The right sowing technology

with cutting packer roller from Pöttinger

Correct seeding technology is especially important to get plants off to a good start during dry periods, as is often the case at the beginning of summer. In addition to placement quality, it is also important that the correct soil preparation is used. That means it is important you get the right trailed roller on your tillage equipment. There are plenty of reasons for choosing the cutting packer roller from Pöttinger. In areas that are extremely dry, it is important that the seed grain is placed at the depth of the water-bearing layer. Higher rainfall can be expected at some point after drilling and the seedling will have to be able to cope with these negative influences in addition to the lower soil temperatures.

Description:

  • Trailed roller for rotary power harrows
  • Roller with packer rings welded closed at each end for stripe-wise packing effect

Features:

Packing:
  • Pre-packing effect right alongside the seed groove thanks to special roller shape

  • Re-packing takes place across the width of each ring, i.e. 50% of the surface
  • The stripes between each ring remain untouched and offer a high degree of water absorption (porous, non-compacted, loose earth)
Rainwater enters the grooves:

  • The corrugated shape reliably prevents mud forming around the seedling because water can drain away and there is no risk of standing water in the groove formed by the roller -> crumbling structure

Soil surface:
  • A ring width of 6 cm prevents the roller from sinking in, even under heavy loads.
  • The breathability of the soil is promoted, improving the exchange of gases

Tool shape:
  • Thanks to the slanted side walls of the roller rings the soil is compacted more at the edges and then relieved again after the roller has passed. The soil "springs back" thanks to its natural characteristics to ensure optimum absorption.
  • Thanks to the special shape of the roller tools there is no skidding over the work area because the carrier tube (roller body) has a much smaller diameter and does not come into contact with the soil. There is therefore no risk of damage in damp conditions or subsequent drying out of the soil surface.
Corrugated packing effect:

Roller rotation:
  • The roller rotates freely thanks to the corrugated shape of the outer radius and the large diameter of the rings
Harvest residues:
  • No risk of clogging even with large quantities of harvest residues
Operating conditions:
  • Resistant to stones and damp operating conditions

The seed has direct contact with capillary water
