Pöttinger seed drill centre of excellence in Bernburg opens state-of-the-art powder coating line
Pöttinger, the family-owned Austrian agricultural specialist, has expanded its location in Bernburg over recent years to become the centre of excellence for seed drill technology. Turnover has tripled within the last ten years. To keep pace with ongoing growth and to improve logistics, productivity and quality, a new investment programme involving more than EUR 4 million was started in spring 2008.
The first milestone in this investment program was the installation of a modern laser cutting system, which already entered production in summer 2008. The next step was to develop a new assembly line layout, with external support. A state-of-the-art powder coating line rounds off the investment program, now delivering proven high quality paintwork to Pöttinger seed drills as well.
The powder coating line was officially opened during a plant celebration in July 2009 by Managing Director Heinz Pöttinger and the Senior Mayor of the City of Bernburg. Numerous customers and partners were invited, who took the opportunity to go on a tour of the plant and inspect the new assembly lines, the powder coating line as well as the wide range of seed drill machinery on offer. Everybody was able to gain their own personal impression of the capabilities of the Bernburg plant, located in Germany's largest arable region. Thanks to this close proximity to their customers, Pöttinger also uses this location as a visitor centre, including a display area for the seed drills. A special Pöttinger highlight in the display area are the direct mulch "min-till" machines with a working width of up to 8 metres.
