TERRADISC goes Canada
Short disc harrow demonstration
A TERRADISC 6000 T was demonstrated at the Heikenwälder family's farm in Canada at the beginning of November. Having emigrated from Austria, they remember the Pöttinger name. The family have been following developments at Pöttinger for some time, especially since their daughter Eva-Maria works at Pöttinger. Pöttinger machines were also in operation at their farm in Austria. In autumn the Austro-Canadian farmer decided to try out a 6-meter TERRADISC at a field demonstration. They invited other owners of large farms from the area to the demonstration in order to further increase awareness of the Pöttinger brand in their region. The field demonstration was a complete success and several visitors have indicated an interest in products in the Pöttinger tillage and cultivation range..
Figures and Facts:
The Heikenwälder family moved to Canada in 1997 and cultivates a 420 hectares cash-crop farm near Montreal. At this farm, the main produce are soy and corn. In 2007, a new farm of 680 hectares was acquired in Manitoba (app. 2500-3000 km from Montreal). There, the Heikenwälder family grows wheat, oats, barley, soy, flax and canola. Since the harvesting seasons are at different times, the family is able to work the two farms mostly by themselves.
