NOVAALPIN – take it to the top

The Pöttinger Alpine mower is in a class of its own

Stability combined with a lightweight construction, these are the key features of the Pöttinger Alpin range of mowers. The front-mounted NOVAALPIN mower has been designed with working widths of 2.20 and 2.62 metres especially for working in the Alps.

This is a durable mower with exciting features. The mower unit is suspended from a central leaf spring mounting. Stabilising leaf springs allow a freedom of movement of ± 4°. The cutter bar is suspended on the outer mower drums so that the crop flows uninterrupted through the mower. The mower can also be equipped with an optional hydraulic side shift system (± 200 mm). Versatile as this mower is, it can be fitted to twin axle mowers and tractors up to 3.5 tonnes – either on a three-point hitch, or on a Weiste triangle frame.

Perfekte Leichtbauweise

The heart of the mower is the new disc-type cutter bar. Pöttinger based the new design on the developments that have been made with our drum-type mowers. The contoured shape of the conical mower discs increases the effect of the paddles on the disc mower, increasing crop flow and lowering the drag resistance of the mower. The crop really flows through the mower over the smooth profiled discs. Tractor power requirement is lower as a result; dynamic crop flow means the mower is operating at peak efficiency all the time. Cutting quality has been maximised thanks to an optimised counter-cut action. The slanted leading edge of the cutter bar allows the earth to flow beneath, separating it from the crop. There is also hardly any gap between the upper edge of the cutter bar and the counter-rotating knives. This means that even heavy, flattened grass can be cut to the highest quality. The rib construction borrowed from the aerospace industry reduces overall weight dramatically. Steel plates have been replaced with lightweight aluminium plates shaped using CAD technology.

An eye-catching is the mower's designer look. As well as having an exciting colour scheme, the rounded shape of the mower makes it even more attractive. A practical test
